Geoff and Margaret Sykes opened the Farmers Cart farm shop and café in May 2002. Geoff was previously a pig farmer but prices were so low that another source of income was needed. The family’s passion for farming and the countryside were the reasons for remaining in the industry and after months of research a farm shop was considered as the best option. Geoff is a farmer and grower at heart and wanted to grow and rear a diverse range of produce to offer in the farm shop in an effort to bring customers the freshness and flavour of foods straight from the fields. The business has grown to include a number of seasonal events and school tours to entertain and educate children, which was an original goal of the venture. In June 2005 we opened the extension to the shop and café as well as adding a purpose built room for the school tours to use.
